We Have Entered The World, of Warcraft

With the opening of the World of Warcraft Cataclysm Beta, we have opened the VGToday World of Warcraft Pandora's Box, beta. All joking aside, Max of VGToday has finally got his hands on vanilla World of Warcraft. And as comes with all new console purchases on VGToday, we start our reporting frenzy! We have also added a new section to the staff info images, a World of Warcraft Main section. All staffers will have their Main's name, realm, and faction available to your friend requests! Look forward to some reaction posts to WoW (Yes, we are 6 years late to the party), news, and our struggling with leveling!
Enjoy!

Spore Review (PC)
From the mind of Will Wright comes SPORE, a journey that takes you from the origin and evolution of life through the development of civilization and technology and eventually all the way into the deepest reaches of outer space. Begin your odyssey at the dawn of life as a simple microbe just trying to survive, then use the fun, intuitive Editors to evolve the creature from its microscopic origins into an intelligent, tool-using race. Guide your species as it builds (and the player designs) villages, buildings, cities, and vehicles. Along the way to becoming a global civilization you can choose whether to hunt or forage, attack or trade, be nice or play rough. All the action takes place in a huge, lush world populated with creatures evolved by other players and shared over SPORE's central server. When it's ready, your one-time pond scum launches into space in its UFO on a grand voyage of discovery, planet forming, or destruct-ion.

As you explore and play in this limitless universe of unique worlds, your personal Sporepedia tracks all the creatures you've met and places you've visited. Take complete control of your creature's fate as you guide it through the following six evolutionary phases: Tidepool phase: Fight with other creatures and consume them to adjust the form and abilities of your creature. It's survival of the fittest at the most microscopic level. Creature phase: Venture onto dry land and help your creature learn and evolve with forays away from your safe haven. Carnivore or Herbivore? Social or Independent? The choice is yours. Tribal phase: Instead of controlling an individual creature, you are now caring for an entire tribe of your genetic craftwork. Give them tools and guide their interactions as you slowly upgrade their state of existence. City phase: Bring your creatures' race into a new golden era by building up the technology, architecture, and infrastructure of their city. Civilization phase.
Once your city is established, your creatures begin seeking out and interacting with other cultures. You can have them do so with an olive branch or a war cry—either way, the goal for your creatures is to unify the planet. Space phase: The time has come to move on to other worlds in your solar system. Make first-contact, colonize, or terraform, then venture further to find other solar systems scattered throughout a magnificently rendered galaxy. A 'mission' structure provides new goals and paths to follow as you begin to spread through the universe.
Enjoy!

The End of the Mouse and Keyboard?
Though I don't remember much about the Minority Report movie, what I do remember is all of the cool UIs the computers had. I mean the ability to just use your hands to control everything on the screen, with out a mouse or keyboard. It was what I once believed was only possible with 'Movie Magic'! I remember thinking how great that would be if I actually had it....sigh.
Well, Mgestyk has made my dreams come true. Or almost has. Check the video.
Now if they can just improve upon that, then I found a new way to game on my PC. It's like the Wii, without the need for expensive Wiimotes. They're already taking pre-orders at their site.

First Dragonball Online Gameplay
This seems to be our very first look at the new DB MMORPG, Dragonball Online. It appears to be very fast paced for a MMORPG, and looks pretty damn good even on cam. The video's in Japanese so I have no idea what they're describing. But, it looks like there will be the chance to fight characters from the show. Anyways pretty cool.

Mirror's Edge Demo Impressions

Developed By: EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE)
Published By: EA
Engine:Unreal Engine 3
Genre:First Person/Action/Adventure
System(s):Microsoft Windows
Xbox 360
Playstation 3
*********************************
I know what you're thinking. "Another First Person game with the Unreal engine which is probably all gory and full of browns and grays!" You couldn't be more wrong, the game is absolutely gorgeous and sports a jaw-dropping scope that is becoming more common in games these days.
As you start the demo you're introduced to the main colors you will see throughout the game. Whites, blacks, oranges, and blues will make this game very different from previous Unreal Engine games. I played the demo on the 360, but I'm pretty sure the controls are in the respective place for PS3.
The demo is the tutorial level from the first stage of the game. The stage that many have seen in the videos; the very first video actually. You are introduced to Faith and the city that the game takes place in. The game starts with a cellshaded cutscene giving you a little backstory of the world. The people have lost most of their freedom, they're under constant surveillance, and as expected some people reacted negatively to this sudden change. These are the people you work for in the game, delivering messages across rooftops, sewer, and overall just any way you can get the package/ message delivered. Seeing as how all communication is monitored and runners are the only safe...er safest way to deliver a message, it makes sense right?.
As you gain control of Faith the first thing you do is a tutorial, pop-ups instructing you how to play. Simple jumping, crouching, and how to check your current objectives. From there you meet up with another runner. She teaches you some of the more advanced move you will need to complete your objectives. In the game some objects are red, this is runner vision. Runner vision is a way for the game to tell you where to go. You can use it, but you don't have too, seeing as how there are multiple ways to get around the game. I turned it off, because it kind of ruined the visuals for me.The game has a moderate learning curve, seeing as how i died a lot the first time I played it. Also death, no matter how cool it looks(seeing the world in one big motion blur as you plummet to the ground), still sucks. Fortunately you start right back where you died. Then you're run through a quick combat tutorial.
There are two punches, a high punch and a low punch. A kick you can do by jumping and then pressing the attack button(Right Trigger on 360), and a sliding kick you can do by pressing the crouch button while moving and pressing the attack button. You can also disarm enemies in first person with the 'Y' button. you can just press the button at any time when behind them, but when they try to attack you with it you have to wait until it flashes red.
After you learn the basics you begin the actual first level.
The first level starts with credits, and a fast paced first person scripted event, pretty much demoing what you're able to do. After that brief moment the game throws the controls into your hands and says, "Run!"
Watch the First Step. Game comes out today, be sure to at least rent this one. It's defiantly worth it.
