Watchmen

After seeing the trailer for the upcoming movie I decided I" would finally read the critically acclaimed graphic novel. I ordered the entire series off of Amazon for a bit over 10$ and got it in the mail on this past Sunday. I am now towards the ending of the book, I at the final chapter. I recommend this book enormously, it is amazing. It has wonderful flow that "keeps you hooked" (What a cliche').

Before I read the novel I was relatively exited for the movie, but now I am nearly jumping for joy. I recommend it to any graphic novel fans, or anyone wanting to get into them. Below are some links for it.

Revisiting Gears

Well, as you can tell by my gamercard at the right I put my Gears disk back into my 360 and went straight into Versus online to get back into the grove of the game. I went under Ranked custom match and found that there were no Assassination games going on. (Yes, I said Assassination...I mainly played that mode back when I played Gears) So I go under Warfare and find only 3 lobby's and each have about 2-3 players in each. This makes me wonder, where are the Gears fans?

It may be that I was online at around 6 PM EDT, which is hardly the primetime for Gears players. Regardless, I hope that the activity picks up before Gears 2 releases and there are 0 Gears 1 players.

On another note I just pre-ordered Gears 2 via my freebies site, check it out here.

Also, another episode of House and Fringe tonight!

Xbox Live Returns

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

After one day (24 Hours) of no Xbox Live worldwide, it is back. Incase you didnt know what this update was, here is what Major Nelson said:

On Monday, 9/29/2008 from 12:01 AM PST for up to 24 hours, Xbox Live will be offline for maintenance. As a result, Xbox LIVE and the ‘My Xbox’ section of Xbox.com will be unavailable, and the Xbox forums will be in read only mode (you won’t be able to post.) The remainder of Xbox.com will be available with limited interruptions.

This service maintenance is in preparation for the new Xbox experience which will be available later this fall.

Let me reiterate: When the service returns, you will not have any new features and you will not have the new Xbox experience update. That will happen later this Fall.

So I will once again say for everyone that you will NOT be getting the new experience when you turn on your Xbox today.

Anyways, Xbox Live is back online and hit me up if you want to play, my gamertag is at the right.

Another House Overview

I may be a little bit late on posting this, but I've been really busy. So basically in this episode we do not hear of the Wilson-House relationship until about mid way through of the show. Most of the show is a House centric episode as we find out more about how he feels during his talks with the Private Investigator he hires to spy on Wilson.

House wants to know if Wilson has mentioned him, and the Private-I tells him no. He also tells House he knows that people only do not mention something for one of two reasons. One if they really do not care, or if they care but want to get over it. We obviously assume the latter of the choices as we know Wilson still feels attached to House. That is about most of the important things that happened this latest episode. I hope to see more interesting story plots next week as this week was mostly filler.

Also, a note of how House is going now. I think House, as a show, is doing much better than ever before. the producers are exploring a deeper storyline plot than just the weekly medical case. they are working with the back story of House along with building up a strong story involving Amber dying and Wilson leaving the hospital. I think this will be one of the best seasons yet.

Madden '09 Epic Win

I might be a bit late, but yesterday I ran out and grabbed Madden 09 for my 360 and also grabbed a 1600 point card and bought some more Lost episodes and Braid. (I haven't yet put Braid in so I cannot comment on it, but it looks great) Anyways, I will have a full review up on Madden and Braid soon. Note this article is mostly for people that have not played Madden, as I will be stating some pretty obvious facts about the game.

So I put in Madden '09 and I am immediately invited to start my virtual training. The virtual trainer measures your Madden IQ and Skill Level. This will set how well your players, and your opponents' players react and how good they are. So I start the training and get All-Madden on the Rush Offense...so I am thinking that I will be going against so pretty hard opponents. I then proceed to get All-Pro on Pass Offense, and Rush Defense, but I get Rookie on Pass Defense.

So I'm done and I see my little Madden IQ at the bottom that reads 600, which is fairly average for a guy that hasn't played Madden since '05. 800 is the highest you can go I believe. So I start my franchise with the Steelers immediately and quickly jump into a game in Pre-Season Week 1 with the Eagles. So the game starts and I see the wonderful new GUI and graphics in general. I love my new HDTV by the way. (Check this place out where I got my free HDTV: Click Here) I loved how the gamed worked, but there are a few things I have to point out that I do not like.

-The buttons for each passer disappear after 30 seconds or so.
-Franchise Game-Freezing Bug
-I also experienced one time I used the rewind feature on the game mode "Play Now" and it stayed on the rewind screen forever. Note, it did not freeze because the red circle during the rewind sequence was still going around.

Overall, I'm loving it. I'll gave a full review up soon and a review up for Braid as well.

House Overview

Last night the new season of House premiered on Fox, along with the second episode of Fringe. I am going to have a brief review of each episodes in this post. Let's start with House. Note, I will NOT be posting spoiler warnings as this post will act as if you have seen both of the episodes.

House premiered with a Wilson-centric episode that addressed the strain between Wilson and House's relationship. If you haven't watch last season's finale, Amber (Wilson's Girlfriend) died in a car accident with House (Meaning House as with her, he didn't die) because she needed to pick up House at a bar because he was drunk. House tried to save her, even drilling into his own head to attempt to, but she eventually died from someone giving her a drug to "cure" her but it turned out it would kill her. I forget who gave it to her, I am between Cuddy, Wilson, or Foreman who made the decision that killed her.

Basically House "feels like crap" because he thinks it was his fault Amber died, but Wilson seems strangely angry at something. I'll skip the general part of the episode where they solve the case, and go straight to the ending...which is what everyone is talking about. (Note, as I said heavy spoilers) House finally gets serious and goes into Wilson's old office as Wilson is about to leave (Wilson quit his job this episode to move somewhere else for previously unknown reasons) and tells him how he feels, and that he is sorry for what happened to Amber. Wilson then says he isn't leaving because of that, he is leaving because "no one at the hospital even liked Amber" and because at the hospital he felt like he always needed to deal with House, and House is the reason Amber died because House should have been responsible for himself. House asks Wilson if they are still friends, and Wilson responds with "No House, we're not friends. And I don't think we ever were."

Overall I liked the episode but I want to see how Wilson and House reconcile. I'll have my Fringe overview up soon!

Looking For Journalists (For Hire and/or Freelance)

Well, myself and a friend are opening up a full scale gaming website like 1up or IGN where we will have reviews, previews, interviews, a community, video hosting site for trailers, etc., and much more. We need some people who are willing to volunteer at the beginning to write for us and help us to fill our site before release. We may offer royalties later for writers in the future, but until we establish ourselves we do not have any monetary income from the site.

We will also love to see some Freelancers come in and write articles/editorials every once and awhile. Of course I cannot give out the link, but email me if you're interested.

Expanding / Tonight's TV

After the first night of my opening blog posts I was thinking of why restrict myself to just blogging about video games? So, from now on I will be blogging on numerous topics, although continuing to focus on Gaming. Some of these topics include, but are not limited to, Movies, Hot TV Shows, and other various things I am enjoying...maybe even the occasional book.

So, for part II. I am really excited about tonight's line up on FOX that just started approx. 15 minutes ago. The House season premiere at 8 PM EST and the second episode of the new series, that I honestly love, Fringe at 9 PM EST. On a side note, I think that J.J. Abrams is completely genius. Lost, as you can tell by my little picture at the right under "About Me", is one of, if not, my favorite show on TV in a long time and possibly ever. So, while I wait for January I will continue enjoying Abrams' new Mystery Thriller. I recommend it to everyone, if you missed the first episode, or any in the future, check out Fringe's homepage with full episodes here.

(SPOILER!!)
Well, I'm off to watch Wilson "quit" the hospital while House is...well, House!

Jeff Green Leaves 1up for EA

Today is a sad day for "CGW" fanatics as Editor-in-Chief Jess Green leaves 1up for good for a new Job for a spot at EA working on "The Sims" series. Jeff green started at Computer Gaming World as Editor-in-Chief in 2001 taking over for George Jones. On April 8th of 2008 the previously renamed CGW, Games for Windows: The Official Magazine, ended it's 27 year run after Ziff Davis Publications filed for bankruptcy. Green then became the Editor-in-Chief of the PC section of 1up.com.

So now, almost exactly 5 months afterwards, Jeff Green leaves 1up forever so it seems. He is going to work with EA on the Sims Series in a "local" EA office, approx. 70 miles from his current residence. (According to Greenspeak, Jeff's blog) Jeff also made his 'last' appearance on the GFW Radio Podcast, in the first ever video edition of the normally Audio podcast. You can view the streaming videos and download the files at 1up.com here.

Overall, Jeff Green will be missed and I hope to see many great things come from EA with his help. If you would like to keep up on Jeff Green news be sure to subscribe to his blog (Link Above).

Welcome!

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Welcome to my new blog. I have been in the "blogging business" for awhile now, and have blogs on Affiliate Marketing, and a blog on just general things I want to rant about. I closed those down so I could open up my own blog here and focus primarily on it.

This blog will contain reviews, previews, interviews (Hopefully!), editorials, and much more. I hope you will stick around and bare with me as I get some blogs up to start me off. I'd appreciate to have you subscribe to the blog, and/or even "follow" me, if you are a Blogger.com user.

That is it for my opening post, hope to write more soon. Until then,
Lava~
